HUMAN: A WORK IN
SELF PORTRAIT SERIES
This little project of mine started as an experiment at home with natural light. It was actually a little play on Art History that morphed into a play on the fashion victim. I was in love with Rembrandt lighting and this aspect of Art History but then I started to play with the idea of how far I could push wearing common household objects and 'make them look "good"?' A la fashionista.
I'm not sure I made anything look good, but wearing anything from a fur scarf on my head, to a dining chair cushion and my favourite gold garbage can lid, sure was kinda fun. Especially taking my self seriously while doing so - or, looking like I was taking my self seriously made for high self amusement. I must be vicariously re-living all those old acting personalities - yes, I was once one of those.
This personal project commenced as a little fun, became a graduate exhibition project and now is an ongoing Exhibition Series.
Stay tuned to find out where I am exhibiting next and I would sure love you to come along and say hi, you crazy kid, you! Email to stay updated and let me know you are keen. You would so make my day xx
